What is C-V2X?

C-V2X is the standard defined by 3GPP in Release 14, and C-V2X is also a continuously evolving and constantly improving standard. Not only that, but the investment in C-V2X in the 4G era can be extended to the 5G era and applied to the 5G infrastructure.

So, what exactly is C-V2X?

V2X, as the name implies, is vehicle-to-everything. V2X is the vehicle that interacts with all entities that may affect it. It receives and transmits location, speed, road conditions, traffic signals and driver behavior through data communication techniques (such as emergency). Brake) to prompt the surrounding driver in real time.

V2X mainly includes vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), vehicle-to-network (V2N), and vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P). In recent years, we have been able to see mass-produced V2X technology on the road.

1. Communication chip

Qualcomm

In September 2017, Qualcomm released the C-V2X commercial solution based on the 3GPP R14 specification for PC5 direct communication - Qualcomm® 9150 C-V2X chipset, the world's first commercially available C-V2X solution. It is expected to be commercially available in the second half of 2018. At the same time, Qualcomm is also starting trials with relevant regulatory agencies and automakers, and its vehicles will be mass-produced in the second half of 2019.

2. Communication module

Datang, Huawei, Qualcomm and other companies have released communication modules based on their respective chips.

As early as 2013, Huawei introduced the ME909T, a vehicle-mounted module, and promised to invest hundreds of millions of dollars each year in research and development related to the Internet of Vehicles. Since then, Huawei has carried out strategic cooperation with many auto manufacturers, including providing the In-vehicle communication module HiSilicon for Mercedes-Benz and Audi; and cooperating with Toyota to deploy the WiFi hotspot to the car to realize the connection with the call center; in China, Huawei It also formed strategic partnerships with Dongfeng Motor and Changan Automobile to develop car networking products.
